Europe in Ulita
Start date: Jan 1, 2015, End date: Mar 31, 2016 PROJECT  FINISHED

Our organization, "DDM Ulita in Prague 3" is involved in the EVS program for many years. We have a good experience with volunteers, so we want to continue with realization of this projects. Our project helps to develop social and professional skills of all participants. The project increases skills needed for getting a job. It should develop an active interest for European democratic living, tolerance and adaptability of people. We concentrate on the international cooperation between partners organizations. Our goals are to improve language education, spread informations about programs of European union and put two different cultures in closer relation. There are one Spanish sending organisation and our receiving and coordinating organisation in Prague involved. The volunteer was Alba, 26 years old girl, who had finished an economic education and some short time courses and who tried to find a job before she started in our project. She contacted her sending organisation and showed us an interest in working in our organisation, she wanted to get known the Czech culture closer and to learn Czech language. Alba tried all profiles of activities: work with pre-school children, work in a club for risk children, leading of leisure time courses and work in tech support team. After that we chose what was the best and most useful for her. She attended regular meetings with our coordinator, where they planned and evaluated all activities and reflected improving of skills. The volunteer was involved in organising all events and had a chance for organising her own project. At first we chose the volunteer and communicated with her sending organisation. In preparatory time we made a deal with the volunteer and with SO about project conditions. We gave all necessary information and provided a training for the volunteer. After the arrival of the volunteer we made a plan of specific activities which should lead to goals of the project. We evaluated the results continuously and regularly and we planned methods and activities for the volunteer. We tried to integrate volunteer to functioning of our organisation and gave her a space and conditions for making things according to her own opinion. Alba communicated with her sending organisation via email during the stay. We evaluated some improvements and successes at the end of the activity and we generated the Youthpass for the volunteer. As we expected, the project had the most important impact for improving skills of the volunteer. The improvement was in communication and organisational skills and enforced a good self confidence. We can see another impact in enhancement of knowledge of local inhabitants about programs funded by European Union. We made the special T-shirt for the volunteer and organised an exhibition with pictures about all-year activities of the volunteer in Ulita. Alba started to write a special Czech-English dictionary for needs of volunteers but it is not finished yet. We find a long time contribution in strengthening of tolerance, international cooperation and increasing of interest about European living. We hope the project had made better conditions for the volunteer for getting a job.
