The future of Europe: that YOU are! - Part 2 -
That was the motto of the youth-exchange 2015, a come-together of 53 young people and their guides from Italy and Germany.
The actual financial crisis has affected the municipality of Nocera Umbra in Umbria (region in the middle of Italy), but also the whole region.
There is a lack of child- and youth-work-structures. Especially these structures would be important for giving young people assistance in different situations (for example youth-unemployment, looking for perspectives, to be domiciled in the country/region/town ...). That's why in this youth-programme we made a analysis of the actuell youth-work. In different fields of youth-work-activities they could compare the italian and the german youth-work and find out the differences.
The young people, aged between 14 and 25 years, were as well participants of youth-work as leader in different fields of youth-work.
They are living in rural regions, with different social- and school-backrounds.
In this project the participants recognized, that they -as young persons- are very important for the coming european questions, that they could be 'experts' for special parts, for example 'Youth-work', and that they have a claim, to take them, their ideas, seriously
and to be involved in decisions.
Within different dayly activities they could practise in fields of youth-work:
open acitivities for children and youth (holiday-programmes, informal meeting-points),
project of the parish (holiday-camps, group-meetings),
the youth-work in sports-clubs/societies, culture-, environment- and media-groups (included civic-media).
The results were reported in scripts, fotos and radio-acts. In this way it's now possible to stimulate discussions and to transport ideas to the youth-politic, to the administration and public authorities. Together with the young people and the participating communal structures we settled out perspectives for a future-oriented youth work ecpecially for the young italian guest-group from Nocera Umbra.
Thereby participation was a part of reality and an important basic component for a real european citizenship.
