Europas Kaufleute im Ausland
Start date: Feb 1, 2016, End date: Jan 31, 2018 PROJECT  FINISHED

The mobility project of the Berufsbildende Schulen der Stadt Osnabrück focuses on commercial trainees from the Dual System who are specializing in European business and on those of other core commercial areas as well as the personal assistants for foreign languages and correspondence in commerce at our school who wish to expand their understanding of taking up employment in Europe. The objective is to facilitate the acquisition of competencies in the international business arena by means of work placements running three-to-four weeks with partner institutions and businesses in various European countries which will improve notably their professional knowledge as well as foreign language competences and employment chances of the 23 participants within the EU.As host institutions, businesses offer work placements arranged either by our partner “Partnership Europe“ in Cork (Ireland) or by companies that have been approached by trainees/training institutions in foreign countries in Europe.Selection of participants is carried out by means of a proven and tested application procedure (application form, Europass CV etc.). This is followed up by an exchange of information with our partners or the businesses at the respective locations. Participants sign agreements which include specific learning objectives. Preparations for carrying out the project are arranged jointly. During the work placement abroad our partners support the participants in the country of destination and ensure the employment corresponding to the learning agreement. At this stage the apprentices/ student trainees note down their experiences and newly acquired skills. They pass them on to the teachers and process them after their return to share them with their class mates, apprenticeship companies and other interested people.Desired impacts are the personal and professional development of the participants, who transmit their collected insights into school and many areas beyond, like their companies and friends .Therefore structures of thoughts and existing opinions with regard to different countries will change, young adults will strive stronger for a work placement abroad and apprenticeship companies will be more open to mobility activities.Additionally acquired competences of the apprentices / trainees during the period abroad are recognized more precisely and made transparent with respect to lifelong learning by the Europass mobility certificate. For our school this project means that we can continue sending students abroad to make them fit for work in Europe and to gain first-hand cross-cultural experience. As more and more classes and colleagues get involved in the project we trust that it will become a natural part of our school life that more of our students receive part of their training abroad.
