Start date: Jul 1, 2014, End date: Jun 30, 2015 PROJECT  FINISHED

The management and the teaching staff of the institution decided to give the chance of foreign internship to those students who have a school leaving exam but have not acquired any trade yet however they are interested in catering and they would like to get catering manager qualifications (528110210000000) later on. With the new initiation the institution can guarantee to its students to build in the knowledge they acquired abroad into the curriculum, moreover it undertakes to develop it. The work programmes made up together with the receiving institutions abroad are adjusted to the Hungarian professional requirements. The versatile internship provided by the German receiving hotels with enormous capacity and spacious restaurants, the carefully built up work programmes contribute to the development of the practical skills of the candidates. Among the 22 students that are planned to be involved in the programme 15 students come from socio-economically disadvantaged area and families, who have never been abroad, and whose knowledge of gastronomy needs to be developed. Concerning their personal, professional and language development, a foreign internship can be crucial. Our partners involved in the project undertake to train the Hungarian students in a rich working environment providing them a wide scale of knowledge. The managers of Ahorn Seehotel in Templin, Germany, Ahorn Hotel am Fichtelberg in Oberwisenthal, and Ahorn Berghotel in Friedrichroda are ready to receive the Hungarian students twice in a project year (summer/autumn and winter/spring periods) for 4-4 months. In the above mentioned hotels the summer/autumn period is the season for package tours, weekend family problems and festivals. The winter/spring period is the season of winter sports (skiing, biathlon, sleighing, trips and mounteneering), and they are very much in need of the work of trainees. KOTK has organised Leonardo Programme for unemployed and young workers before. In year 2013/2014 the success of the programme and the increased interest encouraged the management of the institution to build in the foreign programmes into its training system. The catering manager training will be launched in concised system. From September to December the school organises the theoretical and practical training within the institution for one of the groups, while the others are on foreign internship. The same programme will continue with the exchange of the groups (March 2015 – June 2015). After arriving back home their skills and practical knowledge will be tested and assessed as part of the programme. For the project management it is safer to continue the programme with two partners they got to know earlier. In the project Ahorn Berghotel has joined as a new partner, but it is the member of the hotel chain. All the three managers guarantee the supervision of the trainees, of the realisation of the programme based on the work schedule elaborated together earlier. For the students taking part in the mobility programme abroad the main question is: „Can I obtain satisfactory professional skills in the European Union? How will I benefit from the project? How and to what extent can I use the skills I obtained abroad? What are the common features in catering in the two countries?” The questionnaires made up for them focus on their professional, personal and language development. The evaluation of the questionnaires, keeping track of their development, the reference letters and evaluation sheets will give the answers to the above questions both to themselves and to their teachers as well as to their workplaces and the management supervising their trainings. The positive results of their training will encourage them to develop themselves, and it also provides them opportunity to join trainings in the field of catering.
