EUC Nordvest has set out action plans for meeting the demands for an international dimension in our vocational training programs, i.e. acquiring personal as well as vocational and linguistic skills to enable students to be prepared for a global labour market. We want to offer students a short-term work placement abroad – primarily as an appetizer for possible later training or job abroad, as such a placement will add competences to the individual that are difficult to give through the theoretical training program. Another important target is to make the profiles of our training programs more attractive, which may result in larger intake of students. Our action plan also supports development of international competences. Students will specifically benefit from improving their linguistic competences and training their collaborative skills. The application of Leonardo mobilities are prepared on the basis of EUC Nordvest's desire to contribute to give students an opportunity for a combined school and work placements, including getting a fundamental insight into the European Community opportunities. The project is directed towards various programs at EUC Nordvest, including secondary education, as well as commercial and technical training. The internship and school attendance will contribute to provide students with practical knowledge of the language and culture of the country they are visiting. It is expected that the participants are motivated to learn the language and culture and has strong interest and commitment to the language and culture teaching. Participants must also be willing to be open and welcoming to some new experiences and other ways of doing things. Prior teaching and cooperation with foreign partner, together with internships and school attendance, are designed to ensure that students achieve academic, personal and social skills and intercultural understanding - the experience of being not only Dane, but European. It is expected that the project will motivate the students to be more open to European and international professional and educational opportunities, including learning more because they experience the joy of being able to use their language skills to get close to another country and other nationalities. The stay abroad will mean a lot to students' personal development and maturation. They will have the experience of daring and international successful communication. The project as an combined school and work placements will motivate more young people to work or study abroad after graduation and in this area of Denmark, this is particularly important for young people to learn to think education and employment internationally and not only see their options as limited simply because they live in a peripheral region.
