PROJECT
FINISHED
Based on the previous project EUMUC 2013, the overarching objective of EUMUC 2014 was to continue and to further develop the Europeanization of vocational training schools in Munich. For this purpose we sent three target groups abroad: Students at vocational training schools, graduates of vocational training schools and teachers at vocational training schools as well as educators at children day-care facilities.
Those vocational training schools that were not implementing Erasmus+ projects so far, were offered the opportunity in an initial phase to send their students and graduates abroad through EUMUC 2014 for gaining experience and establishing contacts to submit their own project proposals at a later stage. The project implementation was launched by the Office for European and International Exchanges (since july 2016 IBK - Unit for International Cooperation in Education) and some of the vocational training schools of the City of Munich aswell as from the project partner abroad during the actual mobilities. For the provision of internship placements, we engaged our partners in the XARXA FP Network, of which Munich is also a member. During the project period of two years students and graduates were send abroad, either individually or in small groups.
As accompanying measure to trigger further Europeanization of the Munich vocational education school system, also vocational education staff (i.e. staff in charge of EU projects and members of the school governing body) had the opportunity to spend a work stay abroad in a European country. The individual objective of these measures are in one or more of the following areas:
- Teaching stay primarily to inform on the specifics of the German dual education system (Duales System) (requests via EUROCITIES)
- Study stay to gain job-specific and expert experience (for example CLILL, Information and communication technology, building industry, administration)
- Initiation of new contacts and agreements on details for possible new mobility projects (former preparatory visits)
- VET teachers visit and monitor internships of their students to ensure quality and sustainability
Additionally, we continued offering education staff of children day-care institutions (those in charge of mentoring junior staff/interns, for the implementation of further training of children day-care staff and for advising staff at the institutions) the possibility to spend job specific and topic centre study stays abroad. In 2013, we had already implemented a project (Inclusion in Early Childhood Education and Care) on the status-quo of inclusion in practice in Edinburgh; based on the project results, we developed new questions and deployed new colleagues to realize further dissemination.
Further to this, we established good contacts with the German-speaking education authority in South Tyrol, giving our participants the opportunity to experience practical approaches to multilingualism and inclusion.
With these measures we contributed to the expansion and implementation of thematic knowledge as well as ensured that the area of children day-care of the department of education and sports is further Europeanized.
