PROJECT
FINISHED
The actual project concluded in common for the 10-days- meeting of young people in 2014 “ We are Europe, united in diversity. Let’s create Europe together as friends!” will be held at the west coast of Schleswig-Holstein in Linden, county of Dithmarschen.
This meeting has several dimensions. The most important aim is to support a European “we-feeling”, a European identity. We want to achieve this by inviting the 60 male and female participants to inform themselves about the manifold aspects of Europe. The understanding for the political, social and cultural variety of Europe shall be stimulated and profound knowledge about political, historical, cultural, ecological and social developments shall be actively and strongly worked out. Each ten male and female participants from Belgium, France, the Netherlands, Austria and Spain together with their German friends will deal with unemployment of young people in Europe and together look for solutions and possibilities to help in our region. They are supported by the Federal Employment Office which informs about the program “Incoming”. To boost personal engagement, creativity and the business management of young people as well as the raising of the ability to take up employment “Geocaching” and a workshop ”learning by doing” will be arranged. Furthermore the juveniles will be engaged in the organization of the EU and its election programs. They will deal creatively with the development of a European society and with the question which of the items that the European unification has created up to now would remain after a virtual utopian realignment and what would be altered. All this will be done in workshops, multimedia presentations, simulation games and in a special theatre workshop. The cultural variety will be presented by the creation of national logos with reference to Europe which will be presented on a procession through the village accompanied by music as well as on a singing-, dancing- and game night including join-in actions.
The subject “Global Ecology” will be worked out exemplarily at the unique ecology of the world natural heritage “National park Wadden Sea of Schleswig-Holstein”. This includes a visit of the “Multimar Wattforum” (exhibition about the Wadden Sea, partly interactive), a trip on the North Sea by cutter including sea animal catch and seal watching, a guided walk in the tideland and a visit in the “storm flood world” in Büsum.
Another highlight will surely be the excursion to Friedrichstadt, a small town founded by Dutch people and full of town canals.
Another aim is the boost of a healthy attitude and lifestyle by practicing outdoor activities and leisure sports to support a more efficient social integration and active participation of young people in our society. Except this there will be competitions in swimming, “Olympic games” in the Wadden Sea, Beach volleyball and courses in canoeing, surfing and standup paddling. The juveniles will live together in the school building and have their meals in guest families. The camp- and project language will be English. Finally every participant gets a Youthpass – Certificate. Common experiences will surely again lead to close friendships between the young people and to good relationships to the host families so that we can finally say:
” Europe- that’s us!”
