Võru County Vocational Training Center is one of the biggest multifunctional vocation schools in Estonia managed by the Ministry of Education and Research. About 600 students are studying there. Tourism, catering management and hotel service; business administration and management; metal processing and mechatronics; energetics and automation; wood processing; IT Systems and Computers and Networks can be studied in Võru County Vocational Training Center. VCVTC offers vocational education, applied higher education as well as supplementary schoolings for adults.Practice and praxis is being emphasized more and more in the school, which has been a topic of discussion over the last few years since the economy and enterpreneurship is changing. This gives the students a great opportunity to understand whats happening in the working environments, improve their key skills, such as cooperating, managing and learning skills thus creating better conditions between real world and the school.The purpose of the project „Gaining experience in Europe“ is to amplify and support the growth of the students’ and staff’s specialized knowledge, through practising foreign languages and spending time in other EU countries’ schools and enterprises and being in a different living and working environment usually.The students’ objective of participating in this program is to gain practical experience and developing the ability to learn. Being in a foreign country on praksis supports the students on learning their profession of choice and encourages their personal development. A chance to get a work experience in a foreign country is available within the project for 12 students, improving also their perspective of career. The lenght of the praxis is 2 weeks.In the project, viable key skills needed for everyday life are practised such as foreign languages, the basics of science and technology, using information technology, ability to learn, social competence, taking initiative, enterprise and cultural awareness.The length of the project is 1 years. 12 students are planned to be sent to foreign praxis during the project. 8 partners from 6 different countries are taking part in the project: Spojena Skola Nizna (Slovakia) , Kaufmännische Schule (Germany), Jyväskylän Koulutuskuntayhtymä (Finland), Kontiki-Szakkepzö ZRT (Hungary), Alytaus Profesino Rengimo Centras (Lithuania), Seinäjoen Koulutuskuntayhtymä, Koulutuskeskus Sedu (Finland), Vencpils Technikums (Latvia).Praxis in the work environment is compulsory in all programmes. All students from Võru County Vocational Training Center can send apply for the foreign praxis. During the practice, cultural connections will be made, professions of choice and foreign languages will be improved in order to succeed in the European job market.Informational seminars introducing Erasmus+ where the chance of going to a partnering country to praxis is being introduced in September. By the beginning of November, an application must be sent with the Europass CV. By the beginning of January, the committee will have chosen the students who get to participate in the project. In the middle of January, Europass CVs and individual praxis plans of the students will be sent to partnering organizations who will find suitable enterprises where the students can go on praxis to. In February, seminars will take place where details of the project will be discussed such as housing, insurances, differences related to the destination country, pricing and so. Contracts will be made with the participants of the project. If needed, linguistic and cultural preparation can be organized. According to the VCVTC’s teaching schedule and agreements made with the partner organizations, students can be sent on praxis from the beginning of March. At the end of the praxis, the organization cooperating with the enterprise will evaluate the progression, hand out a certificate of the project and fill a feedback report on the intern.Summaries will be made of the project and respective reports will be submitted.International projects raise the reputation of Võru County Vocational Training Center, as well as overall vocational education on both national and international levels. Using a unitary European vocational education points system, it is easier to travel and learn in different European countries, as well as for the employees to find job and for the employers to assess the competence of their workers.
