EuroCamp - Being an active citizen
Start date: Aug 15, 2015, End date: Dec 14, 2015 PROJECT  FINISHED

Youth exchange project "Eurocamp - Being an active citizen" In all Europe, and especially in France, it appears that less and less people are going to vote. The idea of this project is to bring young people from different countries and background to exchange on the subject of citizenship, as a national level and at a european level. This project comes from a strong cooperation between our organisation, the House of Europe of Nîmes - Europe Direct Information Centre Gard-Lozère, and the city twinning council of Nîmes. Through our partnership with the City twinnign of Nîmes, we agreed on partnerships with organisations from two differents twins cities Preston, in United-Kingdom, and Frankfort/Oder, in Germany. We also agreed on partnerships from our networks in Romania, Hungary, Slovakia and Poland. All together, we decided to bring in this project 5 participants per country, and one youth leader per group. This make a total of 42 participating persons on this project. The idea is to have participants from different backgrounds, aged 17 to 25 years old. We also plan to involve young people with fewer opportunities with cultural differences, economical obstacles or educational difficulties. By using different non formal learning methods, participants will have the possibility to exchange on the subject of Citizenship at local, national and european level. They will have also the possibility to meet and discuss with elected persons from this levels. Activities are also planned in order to help them to know and understand better each other, as well as building a group to encourage cultural exchange. The idea is, through this project, to give the opportunity to the participants to grow as a person, to learn about other cultures and countries, and to be more open minded and tolerant. The main objective is to encourage them to get more involved as citizens in the democracy process. This partnership will make us cooperate with partners with who we already work, as well as with new partners. This will give to all of us the opportunity to learn new non formal learning tools and way to promote and encourage citizenship involvement. We believe that by this way, this project will have a real impact in the democracy process for the young people, organisations involved, and in general the local communities of every partners cities.
