Eurobackyards 4 is a continuation of project which took place during the summer 2011, 2012 and 2013 in Bydgoszcz. The theme of the project is a series of meetings cultural - educational and outdoor activities, which will be attended by European volunteers, together with national volunteers. During the active workshops and games with children and young people we want to promote a diverse culture of the European Union. Our aim is also to reduce language and cultural barriers, reduce stereotypes associated with foreign cultures, promote active leisure activities, and volunteering in general, especially international one. The task of the volunteers is to prepare and conduct meetings with children and young people on backyards. They will work in groups, with an emphasis on work in pairs preparing presentations on their cultures. Volunteers will prepare presentations, games and other activities. They will also make use of the computer and be creative by preparing handicraft materials out of paper. The result of the project will be prevention of creation of stereotypes about other cultures among children and adolescents from Bydgoszcz, and deepening the knowledge on other cultures. We expect that after the meetings in the backyards children will have greater desire to learn and to know better other cultures, learn languages and learn about the history and structure of the European Union. The youth especially the older ones will desire to become social volunteers, whether on national or international level.
