The Pädagogische Akademie Elisabethenstift (PAE) offers students in their second and third year of vocational training the opportunity to do their internships in other EU member states. Annually we carry out mobility projects for students (with a duration of six weeks to twelve month) and teachers. Over the last years the project was enlarged continuously. Currently we hold cooperation with partners in 19 European countries. Main goals of the project are a Europe capacity on the one hand, enhancement of professional skills and personal competences on the other. Thereby we strengthen our students in competitiveness on the job market regionally and throughout Europe. Students fulfill their internship in early childcare institutions and achieve knowledge on early childcare in other European countries. Beyond that the students achieve further information and competences through working along with professionals in foreign educational systems. For the duration of the project we are in close contact with the students and the cooperation partners. As education institution for future kindergarten teachers we want to work on a quality development concerning sustention of the experience the students achieve during the internship. Therefore we plan to include the topic internationalization in the curriculum and implement “Learning and Living in Europe” in the school context and cause interdisciplinary learning.
