PROJECT
FINISHED
Background of the project:
The FOSBOS Technik München is an institute of advanced secondary education and vocational education of the faculty technology. It has a total of around 1400 students. Year 11 is divided into practical phases and school phases.
In the area of school development we're focusing on developing broader methodological competences of our teachers as well as on improving the management skills of the school management. In addition to that we're planning to implement a new faculty (agricultural, bioenergy and environmental technologies).
Project objectives:
We aim to broaden the teaching skills and methods of our teachers, especially when it comes to learner-centred, practice-oriented and competence-oriented teaching. Additionally we'd like to find out more about the potential of teaching with new information technologies.
It is the aim to gain new insights into the school culture of another country, their organisational procedures and workflows by opening up the project to personnel of the school management and sending them to our partner school in Denmark, too. The focus will be not only on administration but also on staff management and quality management.
Planning to implement a new faculty the administration needs to take measures in the area of change management.
Profile of potential participants:
In team meetings the instructors of our on-school technical workshops will decide on delegates who will be sent to our partner school and will conduct internal trainings afterwards. The teachers who will be sent to the partnerschool were selected in a school conference and represent the MINT subjects. As a strategic measure of quality management we will send representatives of the internship programme, who organize the practical phases in year 11, as well as a member of the school management. The directors of our two drama groups are obviously suited best for the training course in theatre education.
Description of activities:
The focus will be on job-shadowing, sitting in on classes/lessons and collaborative teaching. Those who are going to teach in our partnerschools, teachers as well as practical instructors, will collaborate with the colleagues of out host school on lesson contents and responsibilities. They are supposed to reason and think through the methodological approach on competence orientated and self directed tasks concerning aspects like organization of lessons, practical realisation and follow-up processing. Experiences with information technologies and their options for use are to be discussed and tried out.
The school management will deal with organisational structures of our partner school and will receive an in-depth insight into school routines, particular areas of responsibility and quality structures.
The training courses on theatre education will deal with teaching methods that will be very useful for our drama groups but can also be implemented in every day lessons.
Carrying out the project:
The management of FosBos Technik will coordinate the project in close cooperation with our project partner and will monitor the preparation of the participants as well as the evaluation of the results and merits. Language barriers are not to be expected as both English and German is spoken in both schools.
The theatre training at the Globe theatre will also be conducted in English.
Description of results and impact envisaged and potential longer term benefits:
Teachers of our school will get to know the school system of the partnership country, general conditions of our partnerschool and also the methods and strategies they have developed whithin this framework. The school management hopes for new impulses on quality management and staff management.
A systematic compilation of the results and experiences acquired will help to ensure the high quality of the observations and will ease the process of knowledge transfer. Internal trainings will put results and outcomes to use and create a new set of values. Current testing and evaluation will help to imlement new methods and strategies.
