The project concerns the coastal habitats of the Veneto Region, which are managed by Veneto Agricoltura and have been acknowledged as Sites of Community Importance (SCI) and/or Special Protection Areas (SPA) in keeping with the “Habitat” and “Birds” Directives of the European Community, and are protected by national and regional legislation, as is the case for Bosco Nordio Integral Nature Reserve and Ca’Mello Oasis. Specifically, the project aims at the environmental protection and requalification of territories and their enhancement by means of educational-information activities and the improvement of the area’s fruition and accessibility. Special web pages will be designed for Veneto Agricoltura’s website and for the site www.parks.it., the internet site of Italian Park Federation. With special regard to the Bosco Nordio Reserve, initiatives have been planned in the field of environmental heritage protection (maintenance of infrastructures, surveillance services, fire-fighting equipment), study and enhancement of the fauna (re-introduction of the European Pond Turtle -Emys orbicularis, and its reproduction for the aim of reentry in the environment), preparation of thematic visiting routes accessible to disabled persons, promotion of naturalistic education initiatives. In the Vallevecchia SCI/SPA the project envisages renaturation interventions in reflooded wetlands, forestation, research and monitoring activities on the pathogens of the coastal pine forest. Once again the environmental improvement interventions are coupled with environmental education and dissemination, especially through the management of the Naturalistic Education Centre. Lastly, in the Ca’ Mello Oasis SCI, phytopathological fight measures have been planned in the coastal forest.
