The project was part of a scheme with the overall objective of improving the waterquality of the River Maros, establishing a comprehensive water quality and waterlevel monitoring system, thus generating further environmental investments,improving the rivers shipping infrastructure, using it for tourism and leisure. A specificobjective of the scheme was to establish a river cruise on the reach of the river fallingunder the scope of the grant to lay the foundations of environmental consciousbehaviour, if there is enough interest to do so. An important requirement was todocument the cruise as well as to hold a conference in Arad. The cruise and its eventswere summarized in a programme held in Szeged, the results were published on anInternet home page, moreover a book and a DVD was published on the life of the RiverMaros and the settlements along the river.
