Entwicklung, Austausch und Vertiefung innovativer Unterrichtsmethoden im Fremdsprachenunterricht für Jugendliche verschiedener Niveaus (A1 - B2)
Start date: Jul 1, 2014, End date: Jun 30, 2016 PROJECT  FINISHED

The implementation of this project is meant to have a long-lasting, positive effect on the participating teachers, students, and entire school organization. The project’s concept is in alignment with the school’s mission statement and overall vision. The teaching at this humanities-oriented institution places a central focus on languages, basic values shared across different nations, integration, student exchange programs with EU countries, social interaction with one another, and a critical analysis of modern technology. The project serves as ameans to gather new ideas in order to better the quality of teaching, as well as the international, communicative process of exchange. Three members of staff were chosen for the project through an equitable, just, and transparent system, all of whom share a great interest in French culture, increasing their language skills, and international exchange. They bring with them a sense of willingness to participate in this professional training in order to acquire new, important knowledge for our school. All three teachers have been in the profession for a length of five to ten years and therefore possess a wide-ranging repertoire of didactical and pedagogical skills. They have experience in teaching students of various age groups. Especially worth highlighting is their engagement in extracurricular activities outside of the classroom, including the organization of the statewide speech contest and the DELF exam, holding an illustrative French class for the school’s open house, designing a conversation course that appeals to students, etc. Furthermore, the teachers possess a great deal of knowledge regarding international experience in France, such as au pair opportunities, Erasmus semesters abroad, serving as language assistants, etc. These educators are always open to continued innovation and training and are anxious to share their new experiences as disseminators of new information, passing on what they learn to colleagues. The goal of the project is to acquire new skills through training that will make permanent, lasting improvements to foreign language instruction at the school. A central objective is the ultimate implementation of modern teaching tools, technologies, and methods. The training provides the opportunity to establish new contacts on an international level. This should serve in the long run as a means for students to partake in various projects with peers from other countries. As the introduction of eTwinning at the school has shown, this type of project offers a unique opportunity for an international, communicative process of exchange. Overall, this training should contribute to the fostering of friendship and collaboration between European nations.
