AFEV has been working in Barcelona for 8 years promoting the volunteering among university students.Our main project is called enTàndem and is based in mentoring: once a week for two hours, a volunteer university student accompanies a child or a teenager in risk of social exclusion or who is enduring a moment of difficulty.The goal of our EVS program is promoting mobility, intercultural exchange, learning other languages and from other cultures, in order to contribute to the formation of the volunteers into active citizens, through methodologies of non-formal learning.We have selected one participant who is going to give us support in our tasks of coordination and tracking of the volunteers, communication and organization of events.Our aim with this project is to contribute to a multiplication of the EVS, promoting the experience and its values in a local and international scope. Our constant work in the suburbs of Barcelona is going to be the key to letting the youths in those areas to know the EVS.In the long run we are expecting benefits such as a long-time non-formal and constant learning of our participant. We also expect to contribute to connect global and local realities, boasting social volunteering, the European values and an active citizenship among the youths.
