European School Sport Day is a non-profit initiative with the target group of the school age population of EU countries to enhance school culture through a development-based event. The already existing iniative produced over 300 000 participants in 2015, and this year, the scope of it will be extended by adding new dimensions through this application by lifting the number of participants, incorporating training for coordinators, strengthening online communication and emphasizing the pan-European connection. European School Sport Day also has a great impact on the European Week of Sport as it may be one of the largest event organized in the frame of EWoS.In the frame of the project HSSF undertakes to enlarge European School Sport Day for 15 European countries. ESSD is a perfect side-event of the European Week of Sport campaign ensuring that the school-age population, a key target group for policies aiming at shaping future societies, will also participate in the programs. As the former project also contained an event related to the European Week of Sport, European School Sport Day could be traditionally organised in the frame of EWoS contributing to the #beactive message thus guaranteeing that an event that engages hundreds of thousands and potentially millions of students throughout Europe, could be one of the flagship events of this continental initiative. The project's main goal is to enlarge the participation at ESSD and through that promote physical activity on international level and involve as many children and young people, schools and organisations as possible. It is a celebration which provides the opportunity for schools to:• Connect with other European countries;• Raise the profile of physical education (PE) and sport in schools;• Create fun and enjoyment through physical activity for young people;• Promote health and wellbeing for lifelong learning;• Empower inclusion and develop social skills amongst students.
