Enhancing Youth Employability through Photography

The youth exchange brings together 30 young participants from 5countries (Slovakia, Hungary, Italy Lithuania, Romania) in order to tackle one of the most important issues of recent European Union, which are youth employability. The issue of high unemployment is visible across Europe and people under the age of 25 who are without a job are experiencing not only the negative effects of unemployability but also on their self-esteem, their role in the society and creates serious problems. The society we live in goes extremely fast, everyday we are surrounded and overwhelmed by strong stimulus. The youth exchange would like to challenge this fact and as mentioned above the creative tool which will be photography. The aim of the project is to enable participants to build up their capacities, raising awareness on different important topics by sharing their experiences, creating a long lasting coopearation. The goal is to enrich youngsters' experience and create the path towards freelancer work. Planned date is 21-28 August 2016.Objectives:to strengthen participants’ skills, attitudes, knowledge and provide them tools to increase their chances by targeting self-exploration, identity formationto activate youngsters to do future activities using photography to bring awareness on employability issues on local level and in Europeto develop digital skills, using photography and video making tools in order to demonstrate concerns and issues, express opinions and increase effectiveness of young people on youth employment issues to create friendships and support future collaborations between European young peopleto develop and promote friendship, mutual understanding and harmony among European young peopleIncrease self-esteem, self-confidence and develop competencies by photo-based activities that are self-initiated and conducted by oneself or as part of the groupThe following methods will be used: street photography, creative presentations, simulation, forum, discussions and workshops on employability (CV video shooting, interview simulation), camera use and project sessions creating projects (exhibition) for local community.All in all, the aim of the whole youth exchange is to provide space that encourages a wide range of creative ideas from all participants and inspires them to discuss, communicate and expand these ideas, ending up in community actions related to employability, to ensure that learners understand both the personal attributes valued by employers whist developing digital skills and addressing their own personal development needs. Photography is a perfect tool in order to express opinions in a creative manner, learning new key soft skills which will be acquired during the YE: communication, team work, adaptability, flexibility, self-confidence, intercultural skills, decision making, organization/planning, sense of initiative, digital skills. Young people who get involved more in youth organization’s activities have higher chances to get a job and develop higher level of skills. Young people need to be aware of those skills and present them.The resources used in the dissemination activities are varied:-human (organizers, participants)-online instruments, Facebook, web pages, blog-materials (PPT presentations, photos, exhibition)-media (press releases, interviews, newspaper articles)Evaluation -Daily reflection groups meetings, mid-term/final evaluation -Debriefing each workshop/session-Feedback from the National Agency and the organizationAfter the youth exchange, each team will promote the project itself within their organization and the result will be published in local newspapers, online platform. Some participants will meet after 2-3 months in order to organize another exhibition combined with project writing. The partner organizations’ participating youngsters, after the youth exchange will be enriched with the necessary competences to organize future programs, such as local exhibition, monthly discussion/ sessions where experts are invited related to employability and photo and develop together an online platform where an online exhibition can be organized with strong collaboration with other participating organizations. The long term benefit of the youth exchange will be easily visible: Participants will not only acquire professional skills but will be enabled to disseminate the results by organizing local activities for youth facing with unemployability.The project responds to the challenge that more and more young people face with not having a job. Organizers expect more youth in the future to return in labour market and organizations working with youth, enriched by best practices, new tools to support young people, planning new projects. The partners and organizers wish is to continue with this youth exchange and extend its positive effect on other organizations and to build up a well-working network of active youth.
