Employability and Business Startup (EBS) is a further development of an innovative project designed to directly impact levels of unemployment and entrepreneurship within Ireland, targeting graduates of VET colleges, at levels 5 and 6. The project seeks to compliment academic achievement with result focused work experience, enhancing learner’s employability, and equipping and energising innovative individuals who look to create their own business, thereby creating employment for themselves, others and contributing to national and European prosperity. EBS offers internships in areas of study for 8 or 10 weeks, and for those seeking entrepreneurship development a choice of 2 or 4 weeks focused placements with on the job training in Social Enterprises. The envisaged impact of the programme is that participants will have significantly increased their employability due to increased work experience, complimenting their academic qualifications, and having documented achievements (Europass Mobility, Certificate of Completion on company headed paper and company/mentor references) which will impact on future job interviews and success in finding employment. For those interested in entrepreneurship there will be focused detailed work based experiences in social enterprises, developing and honing of business proposals, allowing those with business ideas to more confidently and with greater understanding, to bring their ideas to fruition. It is expected that the programme will increase the number of entrepreneurs, having an effect on unemployment and the development of the Irish and European economies.
