Project background :The decision to initiate the project “Living, Learning and Teaching in a European school - teachers' professional development, and curricular renewal at the regional and national level in the context of the European Union” originates from the needs, problems and circumstances occuring in today’s school. The world is changing and school has to change with it. Problems with immigration, integrating people into the community and teaching their children, different cultural backgrounds, communicative skills and language competences, preparing our students for Europe and for the European labour market - our students need more and more support in developing their competencis through the cooperation between students, teachers and students, teachers and parents, as well as at the international level. Transnational cooperation gives an opportunity to broaden the minds, learn about different cultures and share experiences with partner collegues from European countries. Inservice-trainings abroad for teachers and professional staff in education support the professional abreast of new knowledge, offer new practical teaching methods and techniques. In 2012-2014 Häädemeeste Secondary School participated in a Comenius project and we experienced the positive influence of the international cooperation to the everyday school-life – for the students, the teachers, the community and the local municipality. Project goals: 1) to be willing to attend training courses abroad to develop project writing skills at the international level - important for us is that our teachers attend the courses together with teachers from other countries , so that the cross-cultural learning can not only take place during the training course period, but also during the whole seminar time;2) to share the knowledge, materials and experiences gained from project management course for cross-cultural exchange projects in Europe at regional and international level and to spread the European idea to colleagues and students;3) start to write cross-cultural exchange project (K2) with our partner schools from Germany, Italy and Spain; 4) teachers develop their specialized skills, intercultural communicative skills and teaching methods and techniques; be willing to integrate the European idea in teaching; 5) teachers improve their language skills in English and German; the motivation to learn languages will be raised among students and teaches; 6) the participants of the project (after job-shadowing) will make suggestions about our school development stragedy, school curriculum and syllabus.Number and profile of participants: There will be 8 teachers participating in mobility. Two teachers will take part in the project management course for cross-cultural exchange projects in Europe – an English teacher who has a former experience of international project work and a teacher of hobby classes. Six teachers (2+2+2) will be job-shadowing. They are teachers of the following subjects – History and Social Studies, Economics and Culture, Design and Technology, language teachers, social pedagogue. It is important to have readiness for team-work, language skills (English or German), digital skills, a former project experience.Project implementation: 1)Participation in intercultural project management training courses2) Conferences and seminars3) After each training, conference, seminar or meeting dissemination among collegues and community4) Keeping a blog5) Writing a cross-cultural exchange project (K2)6) Teachers according to their specialization and competence depending on the need of the further K2 project take part in job-shadowing.Description of the expected results, effects and potential long-term benefits: The seminar experience will boost the motivation for intercultural learning and intercultural cooperation and the work at the school with European projects will be more effective.1) Improvement of intercultural skills and project writing and management skills;2) Teachers gain self-confidence and intercultural competence shall be implemented in lessons; 3) There will be international schools network and communication;4) Possibility to be informed about the project via blog;5) Writing and applying K2-projectLong-term benefits:Changes in school syllabus and curriculum.The teachers who will have participated in the project will use new methodology and techniques; there will be teachers’ network in social media; our K2 project will be approved.The training will enable teachers to inspire our teaching staff even more for European projects, and to use the project work as a means to expand the students‘ intercultural, language and social skills. By expanding these skills our students will be better prepared in the future for the demands of the European and international labour market.
