The Natural History Museum Vienna (NHM) is currently planning a new auditorium, which is dedicated to science communication in an open and modern social context. Especially education for adults demands a far-reaching focus on participation and involvement. The planning team of the new auditorium will reach an excellent overview of the international state-of-the-art in science communication. Workshops and training courses for new formats of science communication, visits of institutions to study best practice and participation in relevant international conferences will improve knowledge and competence of the employees of the NHM. New formats of communication and education, e.g. workshops, discussion platforms and citizen science will increase and intensify the relationships between the museum and the public.
