Within this project six European Volunteers will receive the possibility to do an one year European Voluntary Service in a Day care centre of the AWO Karlsruhe. The volunteers will support the team of the kita with its daily work. Beside the pedadogical support of the children also the support of individual children with disabilities or the housekeeping, for example the preparation of food for the children, will be tasks for the volunteers. Furthermore the volunteers will have the possibility to participate in the Youthgroupleader-Education at the Jugendwerk, the Coordinating Organization. After this education the volunteers have the possibility to be part of a team for the leisure care for children or youth in Germany. The volunteers also receive a certificate which is called Juleica (Jugendgruppenleitercard) for this education.The volunteers have the possibility to gain various experiences in working with children, they can bring in their own experiences and have the possibility to get new competences. Depending on their former experiences and interests there's the possibilty to support activities for the children in the fields of art, sports, experiments, role playing, building and construction. If the volunteers are intersted they could for example lead a workshop about one of these topics. Beside there's the possibility to present the Kita and its employees their own culture, for example by showing some typical songs or games.By working in a day care centre the volunteers will get in touch with the children and their parents. They will also be in touch with the employees of the Kita. The volunteers will get to know people with various cultural and social backgrounds and have the possibility to widen their international competences and their ability to work in a team. By taking part in the Youthgroupleader-education and further events which the Jugendwerk is offering they will have the possibility to get to know many young people from Karlsruhe. By regularly meetings with the EVS-coordinator and all EVS volunteers they furthermore have the possibility to get to know many different cultures.The volunteers have the possibility to get a deep insight of the work of a Kita/day care centre in Germany. They can get to know a new country, a new culture and a new language. Beside they will get to know many people with various cultural backgrounds. The process oof learning the german language will be supported by a language course at the beginning of their EVS project.The volunteers will be supported by a mentor in each Kita, who will be the main contact person for his/her tasks. Beside all employees of the kita are possible contact persons andw ill help the volunteer to carry out their own projects. Furthermore the EVS Coordinator of the Kreisjugendwerk is always a possible contact person. Every volunteer will have its own Tutor as contact person as well.
