The goal of the „Sustainabilityin European Retail” project was to transferand adapt the existing „Commercialenvironmental information” onlineinformation pool from zbb and then todevelop the content into e-learningmodules. These modules could then betailored by the project partners involved tofit their own national requirements and beimplemented according to the meansavailable to their institutions. High-qualitytraining programmes, standardised at aEuropean level, on the theme of sustainabilityin retail in Europe could thus beincorporated into the further educationand training structures of the projectpartners involved. E-learning modules areprepared for two major target groups inthis respect: employees, trainees andstudents on the one hand; and managersand entrepreneurs on the other. Thecollection of 26 examples of best practicesis taken predominantly from small andmedium-sized commercial enterprisesillustrating the wide range of potentialapproaches to trade sustainably. Theseapproaches concentrate on differentaspects depending on the country,industry and type of business involved,and can focus on choosing sustainableproduct ranges, sustainable companymanagement or a more general sense ofsocial responsibility.
