This project contributes to previous donor efforts (including EU), which had put significant funds for reconstruction of social facilities in Lipkovo affected by the military conflict in 2001. The partnership was carefully designed and includes all KEY stakeholders necessary for successful implementation: Municipality of Lipkovo–responsible for overall education management, school Goce Delcev–hosting the investment activities, and NGO Ecological Forum Association–providing the necessary expertise in concerned EU policies, stimulating information exchange and transferring of experienced know-how. This well balanced partnership mix is a guarantee for sustainable long-lasting partnership networks from both side of the border. To sustain the project results, the networks will develop voluntary school programs and curricula for both regions which will be included in a MoU (to be signed by all partners) and will regularly continue to be implemented even when the project is completed. Achievements: • Developed and published Local Ecological Action Plan (LEAP) for Municipality of Lipkovo utilizing bottom-up approach and securing wide local population participation, in hard copy and on CDs;• Education-environmental network established; • Constructed two-storied school tract (wing), fully compatible with the existing building; in total 6 new classrooms, 4 toilets, 1 cabinet, 2 hall-classrooms and stairs are constructed; • Training modules and materials in EU regional policy with focus on European Strategy for sustainable Development, climate change and regional development developed; • One youth camp - workshop for high school students from BG and MK on sustainable development, climate change and regional development policies was organized;• One art and photograph workshop on environment and EU cross-border initiatives conducted;• Two art exhibitions were jointly organized and held in both Lipkovo and Sapareva Banya; • School yard in Lipkovo was arranging by the network members.• 600 copies of multimedia publication in Bulgarian and Macedonian language were produced containing the workshops results;• 1000 leaflets to announce the multimedia publication and its content were produced; • 100 posters were printed and used as announcement tool;• One inauguration ceremony to promote the achieved project results and officially put into the operation the newly built school facility in Lipkovo was organized;• Long-term partnership for future CBC collaboration is established; Some 40 participants from both sides are aware of the CBC programme.The project was successfully implemented in April, 2013.
