The project „EDC for All - Qualifying and Mainstreaming Education for Democratic Citizenship within Europe“ TOI is composed of 5 organizations from 4 European countries with a great variety in status, scope and background. The project aims at improving the quality and attractiveness of Education for Democratic Citizenship (EDC) in the field of vocational education and training. The partners will develop, transfer and disseminate innovative practices and tools in the field of EDC for acquiring key competences, thereby relying on a large network of European partners with relevant and complementary experiences on EDC. The project’s objectives are:- To transfer “Have your say! - Manual on the revised European charter on the participation of young people in local and regional life” to the Portuguese and German context;- To transfer “Democracy and Human Rights - Charter for All” and the respective “Guidelines for Educators” booklet to the Portuguese and German context;- To produce an attractive game for the development of competences on Democratic Citizenship in the European context, adapted for the Portuguese, French and German contexts;- To disseminate and mainstream the game to a wide range of organisations and institutions active in VET and other education sectors within Europe;- To transfer to and disseminate in Portugal further European education materials and educational practices;- To transfer European quality standards in non-formal education to Portugal;- To develop at least 2 trainings in Portugal and at least 1 training in Germany to test, develop and disseminate the educational tools developed in the framework of this project with a clear and strong focus on Democratic Citizenship.- To establish a certification system adapted to the validation of competences in the field of EDC adapted to the Portuguese context, bearing in mind the ECVET frameworkThe project‘s idea results from the assumption that there is a dire need to further develop democratic citizenship in Europe. The project aims at contributing to this process by empowering citizens to increase their knowledge, skills and understanding of EDC inside the VET system and preparing the actual societies to embrace this process.
