Economusée Northern Europe will combine culture, craft and tourism to create an economy platform for craft artisans practicing traditional techniques in order to help the crafts survive and create new jobs. The project, which focused on rural or remote communities, will assist with business development, showcasing indigenous crafts, job creation and training of young people. The project is based on a successful Canadian model with 20 years experience and will see them all adopt a common house style for all the Economusée's and be part of the joint internet site. Achievements: The first Economusee in Northern Europe, the Aurland shoemaker was opened 1st July 2009 by the Norwegian Minister for Communication and Transport, Ms. Liv Signe Navarsete. The no. 2 Canadian Economusee Bilodeau Fur dealer and Bootmaker was opened soon after in Normandin village of Quebec Province. The Oselvar Boatbuilder outside Bergen, opened on 10 th December as the 3rd Economusee. There will be 15 more to come during 2010. There is an extensive publicity around each economusee opening. Pre-analyses can be used for finding optimal scale, market niche and business model of pellet production.More information see: http://nppoutcomes.eu/Title: Heat mapping and supply chain design A GIS based heat mapping system for the Scottish Highlands, which gives an indication of the economics and emissions differentials from biomass and fossil fuels. The system also makes rudimentary calculations of the available biomass resource and allows the supply/demand parameters of any area to be calculated.More information see: http://nppoutcomes.eu/Title: Small-scale harvesting machine for willow Small-scale harvesting machine which fills the gap between motor manual and combine harvester, allowing small plots to be harvested without importing large machinery and, thus, providing an economic solution.
