Ecolab 4 Sustainable Development
Start date: Jun 1, 2016, End date: Dec 31, 2016 PROJECT  FINISHED

The modern day European reality is marked by continuous violations of the principles of Sustainable Development. European countries pay little attention to the social and intergenerational justice, environment protection and fair economic redistribution focusing only on economic growth. Moreover, the public policy-making processes are far from being participatory and as a result the influence of the civil society on the public decision-making in is still rather low. Sustainable Development stands for a better quality of life for everyone, now and for generations to come. It is a fundamental objective of the European Union. Even though there were important achievements in implementing the sustainable development strategy in the EU, it's not a secret that still unsustainable trends persist in the EU countries and outside of the EU. They are ranging from climate change and ageing of societies to widening gap between the rich and the poor. The Training Course “Ecolab for Sustainable Development” will address the above-mentioned issues in its unique way. It will provide active citizenship and sustainable development education for youth workers aiming at preparing them to become change agents in their communities and transfer their knowledge to the young people they work with. The Training Course will take place in Yerevan, Armenia from 12-17 July, 2016 involving 30 youth workers from the Erasmus Programme Countries (Germany, Bulgaria, Croatia, Czech Republic, Estonia, Italy, Latvia, Romania, Turkey) and Partner countries (Armenia, Georgia, Moldova, Russian Federation, Ukraine). Through Education for Sustainable development the Training Course will promote the economical and efficient use of resources, the thoughtful treatment of the environment and the responsibility towards future generations. Project participants will implement projects with youth they work with back home aiming at strengthening their communities. These projects will find solutions to the problems their communities are facing in social, economic, environmental and cultural of Sustainable Development. The main objectives of the Training Course are the following:A) To qualify, inspire and empower 30 youth workers to act as ambassadors of Sustainable Development;B) To support exchange of experiences among involved youth workers and youth leaders on Sustainable Development;C) To increase youth workers knowledge and awareness about Sustainable Development as a complex phenomenon and its' four dimensions;D) To facilitate process of creating new ways and techniques which can be used by youth workers in order to promote sustainability in their daily life and the youth work;E) To encourage long-term partnerships by connecting civil society actors and organizations;F) To increase number of innovative projects on Sustainable Development under the Erasmus+ Programme. In order to reach above mentioned objectives the participants will have an opportunity to learn from each other, research as well as visit several organizations which are professionally dealing with sustainable development. Participation in all activities will stimulate the creativity and innovation of youth workers involved, will increase their active participation and tolerance towards cultural differences. They will be encouraged to take the initiative in searching for solutions to the identified problems and work together on future projects.
