The “Eco-bridge” project symbolizes an integrated approach to enchase environmental, economic growth and social progress of both regions by connecting interventions in three complementary areas: infrastructure, environmental-education, and cross-border co-operation, all developments dedicated to serve environmental sustainability. The development of infrastructure on both sides of the border provides a stable background for environmental activities and promotion, enabling joint utilization of the premises. The newly developed facilities, environmental awareness campaigns and educational programs, designed under an integrated approach, will provide a wider opportunity for both partners to promote local and cross-border natural values of their shared resources. By implementing joint marketing efforts for promoting eco-tourism, visitor rates of both countries will raise, the spectrum of the visited sites will enlarge, that will result in long term environmental, economic growth and social progress of the regions. Among the main activities of the project are the following: construction in Hungary of a 190 m length Tree-path Trail, of a service building and a parking lots; construction in Romania of 20 wooden eco-houses, Eco-information Center, two Eco-paths and a Peek-Tower, delivering of innovative non-formal educational tools (such as displays, informational boards, bird-watching locations), demonstration of current on-going conservation activities, implementing jointly managed programs to facilitate cross-border cooperation between the neighbouring communities, involving NGOs and civil sector(such as PNM monitoring of Mures river, all together 5 programs, 2 demonstration videos).The target groups of the project are kindergarten children, elementary and high school student, participants of cross-border exchange programs, environmental camps participants, university students and teachers, supervisors, organizers of local, regional school trips, who visit the premises with their students, researchers, who participated in the monitoring of the Mures river research project, members from disadvantaged groups, who will have access to the facilities and programs, Civil Society, NGOs, who’s’ aims are connect the “Eco-bridge” values, local SMEs, professional organizations, tourists etc.
