The aim of the project is to develop on-line courses to enhance the oral skills of power engineering specialists in English and French. Knowledge of these two official EU languages will enable employees in the power engineering sector to communicate more effectively with representatives from the industry, and related sectors, in other countries. The major project output will be online language training courses in EN and FR for power engineering specialists. On-line courses will offer learning material in various forms including text, video, photos, sound samples, graphics and charts. Interactive, online self-assessment tools will also be made available. The online training package will be coordinated in three key phases, firstly, learning materials will be developed in EN & FR with each module comprising six parts - social interaction/telephony, describing production processes, dealing with numbers & graphs, presentation of company & products, meetings and negotiations). Secondly, the online application for learning materials will be developed and introduced and lastly, the online courses will be delivered. The content of the online courses will be developed by language experts throughout the course of the project, before being tested and delivered to power engineering specialists across the participating countries. Online training will be accompanied by a CD-Rom, an instruction manual and a glossary of key terminology in power engineering which will be made available in all partner languages. Online training will be further combined with residential training sessions in the partner countries. Dissemination will take various forms including press releases to relevant media and the hosting of a project website.
