E 18 IMPROVEMENT OF MAIN ROAD 7 BETWEEN VIROJOKI AND VAALIMAA, follow-up project
A central measure is E 18, improvement of the main road 7 between Virojoki and Vaalimaa.Road 7 is part of the European Road E 18, which carries international and national traffic along the south coast of Finland. The road is the most important passenger and goods vehicle traffic connection between Finland and Russia. Border traffic and new business originating from it have increased, resulting in heavy traffic on this road. This has caused a lot of safety and flow problems causing traffic queues and accidents.
