The project “Trainee today, professional tomorrow – placement abroad supports career”, was designed for 20 students of Secondary School of Economics and Services. Taking part in the project, implemented within Erasmus + programme, gave them an opportunity to develop professional and language skills and also gained further experience in this field. The placement abroad certainly improved the chances of our students on the local and European labor market. The placements were organized according to job profiles, represented by the participants taking part in the project - economics, logistics, trade and hairdressing.Youth before departure participated in the course perfecting the English language, cultural activities - in order to familiarize them with both the history and the realities of contemporary life in Northern Ireland and in the activities of professional training in order to learn techniques to cope with stress and conflict, and management skills our multicultural group. During the meetings - a group of students had a better opportunity to know each other, to discover their strengths and weaknesses, analysis of simulated behavior. Two teachers of Secondary School of Economics and Services took care of the trainees during their stay abroad. North West Academy was our partner in the project. This institution enabled 20 students from our school to do the training in local companies in Londonderry (Northern Ireland) from 06/07/2015 to 31/07/2015. Students practiced in the following companies: NEXT, Primark, Morans Strand Road, Chef Mate Centres Whitehouse, Foyle Fresh Produce, Kular, Cutrite, Michael & Thomas, Hair Clinique. High level of professional training was allowed the project participants to contact with modern technologies, new trends in the above mentioned job profiles and also with professional character resulting from cultural and attitudinal diversity. All these factors effectively influenced not only the development of professional skills but also social skills required by the students of specific profiles. Moreover, an important part of the project was a possibility to improve the knowledge of English in an English speaking country - both on general and vocational level. Under the project, the participants have established international contacts. In addition to all tangible benefits resulting from the project in terms of professional skills, there was also an important role of learning the history, culture and customs of Great Britain. The trainees, while participating in the project had a unique opportunity to strengthen their skills and learn new professional abilities. This experience was a valuable source of success for our students, our specialists-to-be on the labor market.
The project also had a big influence on the school community. The participants presented their experiences and share their impressions with the other students in our school. They became a living proof that focusing on personal and professional development is the value that will be reflected in their future professional career. Apart from that, the project itself was an inspiration for the teachers participating in it – it was a great source of new methods of training and experiences allowing to modify their curriculum and methods of vocational training, which made academic standards even higher.
The appropriate work placement realization was supervised by both NWA and Secondary School of Economics and Services. The documentation of the training was prepared in the form of a final report, and the two above mentioned institutions completed the relevant documents validating the participation in the project (certificate of work placement completion in British companies, Europass Mobility), which confirmed new skills and professional abilities.
Methods of dissemination of project results were adjusted to the target groups (peers at school, the students of other schools, teachers, parents, representatives of municipal authorities, local community, regional entrepreneurs, etc.).
The results of the project were incorporated into the promotional school.
The course of the project and the results achieved also became inspired to write the next - also in the field of vocational training.
