Akçadağ Fatih Fen Lisesi, which was formerly opened as Akçadağ Village Institute in 1940,got its present name in 2014 Education year. The school is situated in Akçadağ and it has a new modern building. There are 4 administrative staff, 27 teachers, and 393 students -most of them staying at dormitory- at our school. The legal representative of the Project is Mikail Çirkin, the Head of the School, and the person in charge with contact is Sekan ŞİMŞEK, an English Teacher at the School.
FATIH Project (Movement to Increase Opportunities and Technology ), which enables classes using Information Technologies more efficiently and more widely, is a project of the Turkish government which seeks to integrate state-of-the-art computer technology into Turkey's public education system. Fatih also enables using interactive contents such as e-lessons, videos, sounds, animations and graphics in learning and teaching process intensively. Our school has the interactive white boards already, and after the distribution of tablets we will need to improve the staff’s proficiency at content development, effectiveness in the class, and the visual presentation of the subjects. Therefore, observing the use of ICT (Information and communications technology ) in the schools of the EU member countries and exchange consideration with the teachers in those schools about the modern education techniques, material development and effective ICT usage will contribute to the staff’s proficiency and school’s quality.
It is a necessity of our school’s mission that we as teachers need to follow the latest developments in technology and the educational system in the other countries. Within the scope of these strategic educational partnerships, we are planning to carry out at least one or two projects to help our teachers to have continuous relationship with the schools abroad. These projects contribute also to knowing school managers, teachers and students each other better. For these projects will be carried out in the following years, teachers will be have the opportunity to follow the developing technology in the educational aspects.
During the mobility in Prague, the usage of ICT in lessons will be observed, and the obtained data from the experiences will be presented to the teachers primarily in our school and others teachers in Akçadağ in the first week of the second term. All the teachers will be informed about the ideas and the practice about using ICT in the lessons. In addition, it is planned that the teachers will make presentations to their colleagues in the meetings before the education year starts. In this way, the project enables all the teachers in Akçadağ to compare and synthesize the educational technologies used in EU countries and Turkey with the modern and up-to-date technologies.
Within the scope of the project, it is aimed to raise the usage of the e-Twinning platform among our teachers, on which thousands of instructors from different cultures can meet, share ideas and discuss on many subjects. Therefore, in the first phase to the teachers and managers joining the project, then to the teachers in Akçadağ e-Twinning will be introduced and they will be encouraged to register to the platform.
During the day the teachers will take lessons in Prague, then they will visit the two school. There they will meet the school managers and teachers. The teacher will observe the lessons used with the ICT, so participants and also their students will improve their creative thinking abilities. Besides these, there will be an opportunity to detect the possible problems of the usage of ICT, and how to prevent these problems.
The trip begins at least one day before the date when the participants start the course in Prague. The participants will be insured with international travel insurance. The participants will fly from Malatya to Istanbul, then from Istanbul to Prague and they will follow the same route in return. A convenient and safe hotel, which is close the course center and the schools, will be booked beforehand.
The project has 4 basic activities; preparation, choosing of participants, the practice of mobility activities, and the evaluation phase. All the teachers participating to the project take different roles in every phase of the project.
