The overall aim of the project is the development of eco-tourism & the promotion of the rich natural & cultural resources & wildlife of the CB area. The specific objectives are: - the promotion of alternative tourism as a means of enhancing CB economic development in a sustainable way, - the development of integrated & distinct tourist products by effectively inter-connecting tourist resources & services, - the preservation of biodiversity of the area, the familiarization of visitors with wildlife tourism, - the enhancement of human resources’ expertise on eco-tourism, - the development of cooperation among tourism stakeholders at CB level for development of joint tourism activities. The project will be implemented at Nestorio & Korce regions, which possess natural beauties & places of environmental & cultural/religious interest, are important biotopes of wildlife & provide opportunities for sports activities, making the CB area a promising setting for development of eco-tourism. The project addresses all indentified needs & opportunities adopting a balanced conservation-development approach, ensuring collaboration among local communities, authorities, NGOs, tourism stakeholders. Expected Results: The project will result in developing a distinctive tourist identity of the project area as destination of eco-tourism,reinforcing competitiveness of tourism sector & overall local & regional economic growth.Expected results include:-Preservation & sustainable exploitation of protected areas & places (environment, flora, forests, lakes, animals & brown bear biotopes) -Promotion of important points of environmental & cultural interest through creation/restoration of concrete trails(cleaning of paths,environmental friendly signs/labels,recreation & resting points) -Promotion of advantages & added value of cross-border destinations through integrated tour packages providing all touristic services & specialized Trails Guides & information material/maps to be distributed to the cross border area & further to national & EU tourism actors(tour agents,travel offices) -Enhancement of cross-border area’s identity as eco-tourism destination through a multilingual & multifunctional portal. Enhancement of human resources skills in eco-tourism & access to information & e-learning sources corresponding to development prospects of alternative tourism-Strengthening of networking between the countries & development of cross-border relations through direct contact of actors in tourism sectorThe project innovation is based on the thematic approach of the tourist destination & the provision of integrated tourist services addressing special interests.The added value consists in the exploitation of previous experience & expertise of partners,the possibility of further use of project outcomes(tourist packages,e-learning platform & portal,Network),the enhancement of synergies which will support a joint vision for eco-tourism & maximize cooperation dynamic.Contributions to the tourism development are 2 workshops,5 e-learning courses,3 trainings,1 portal,2 kiosks,1 series of tourpackages,1 series of Guides,1 series of information material,1 Action Plan for eco-tourism development.
