Our school consists of 20 teachers and 203 students , and is located at the city of Mytilene. Although the area is near the borders , which is generally a disadvantage , our school also has a wide reputation in applying innovative ideas and practices in the educational process .
In so doing, the school has received several distinctions in National and European level . Apart from that innovative programs in the context of research , such as educational robotics , mobile application development etc.
Recent years we present a continuing effort to improve and modernize the teaching practices and procedures that govern the educational process of the school . This means that it is necessary to improve areas such as:
-Development of new teaching methods and educational tools , in order to improve the educational process . Search for new methods and skills that can be integrated into the educational framework , so as to make it more efficient and attractive .
-Development and promotion of the European dimension for students but also for teachers of the school . Due to the distant areas where our school is located , there is need to give pupils a sense of European identity and consciousness.
-Development of professional skills and educational qualifications of the teaching staff of our school ,in order to improve the quality of the educational work they provide.
To achieve these goals , our school designed the Erasmus plus project "Teaching in the 21st century» according to which, several mobilities are planned including :
• Attending training program entitled «Teaching through 21st-Century Methodologies» by the institution ITC ( Czech Republic) by three teachers of different teaching fields, from our school.
• Attending training program entitled «E-learning in the classroom» the institution ITC ( Czech Republic) by three teachers of different teaching fields, from our school.
The participating teachers in the mobilities of the project plan are going to be selected by the school management according to their certified skills in Knowledge of English and teaching using ICT.
Additionally teachers who are certified in adult education , in order to have efficiency and diffusion of knowledge to be gained from educational programs to watch, will be preferred .
Within one month after the end of each program seminar, the school will organise educational workshop where all teachers of our school will attend. In this workshop participants in the mobilities will present their experiences and skills acquired in the courses. The teachers of our schools will be asked to apply certain practices in the teaching process.
Within two months of the workshop , the teachers of the school will complete a specific questionnaire on the experiences gained in applying classroom . Especially for the distance learning program will explore whether it is feasible to implement in the educational process and the impact that it could cause. The results of the questionnaires will be discussed at a special meeting of the school association of teachers .
The material of the seminars will be delivered to the school where they can be available for educational purposes by any school teacher.
Our school , in order to share the results of the project with the near schools and the local community, will proceed in several activities:
• Organize training workshops, specialized for teachers of each of the main teaching fields.
Our school staff consists of 20 teachers and 203 students , and the seat is the city of Mytilene . Although the area is insular border , which is generally a deterrent , our school also has specific discrimination in the application of innovative ideas and practices in the educational process .
• Also through the school website (which has been awarded in national competitions) there will be a detailed report on the results of the program, and all the relevant material, sources and relevant literature will be available to the public.
