The proposal is entitled DFE skills for suppliers and aims at developing a training tool kit for employees of SMEs in technological sectors who need to comply with emrging environmental legislation. DFE – design for environment – shall bridge the gap between product development and environmental management. The target groups are design, operative and management personnal in sub-supply organisations serving primarirly the automotive sector, in SMEs, the personnal comprising designers, improvement teams, owners/managers. Secondary target groups are training organisations and SME support organisations. The project focusses initially on the automotive sectors but shall extend to the electronics and aerospace sector post-project. The expected results are an ICT based training tool on the topic Design for Environment improving project-based an collaborative learning, an accreditation model, a resource portal including course materials, case studies, simulations, technical support. Valorisation shall be done through company networks and with SME support organisations. The strategy planned has four steps: generate awareness, assistance for start-up, implementation, assessment and preparation of commercialisation. The impact is expected on SMEs who shall be made aware of the benefits of the project by helping to achieve high standards of compliance. In a long term the project results shall improve desings, reduce costs, increase environmental standards.
