Development of Interactive Learning Material towards Environomical Pathways for Future Energy Services in a Global Perspective
Start date: Oct 1, 2010,
Safe and reliable access to food, water and energy are among the pillars of the future of humanity. This must be achieved in a social and humanitarian environment to ensure a global sustainable future of mankind. SELECT-CD will develop a unique interactive energy learning material to be used inside the Erasmus Mundus Master Program on "SELECT Environomical Pathways for a Sustainable Energy Future". All the learning material from "SELECT" will be incorporated in the international learning platform "CompEdu" and will as such be spread well outside the proposed consortium, both at the consortium members own universities as well as a large number of other universities globally. The learning material will contain a significant number of innovative interactive pedagogical tools which will allow the user of the learning platform to faster, and with more interest and more in depth, acquire the knowledge needed to be part of the global development towards a sustainable world. Among these didactical tools can be mentioned self-explanatory "chapters" with interactivity like videos, virtual "field trips", filmed laboratory exercises, filmed calculation exercises, as well as self-assessments (various types of quizzes but also highly sophisticated "automatically corrected calculation exercises with hints") in which students can interactively test their knowledge. This interactive learning platform will be reachable for "on-campus" as well as "remote" students at universities and also to professional engineers who wants to broaden (or specialize) their knowledge in energy technology. Furthermore, the curriculum developed will be available to teachers world-wide to use inside their own lectures. As such the learning material to be developed inside SELECT-CD will reach a world-wide audience interested in higher education in modern and future energy technology.
