Development of an East border COrridor 4th party LOGistics service approach along the axis Brandenburg-Saxonia-Austria with accession countries (ECO4LOG)
Start date: Mar 31, 2003, End date: Oct 29, 2005 PROJECT  FINISHED

The operation “Development of an East border corridor 4th party logistics service approach along the Brandenburg-Saxony-Austria axis with Accession Countries” (ECO4LOG) focuses on improving the efficiency of goods transport along the EU North-South Corridor, extending from the German/Polish border to the Adriatic Sea. Due to EU enlargement, this EU North-South Corridor will experience a significant increase in goods transport that will most likely exceed the capacity of existing infrastructure in the near future. Based on inter-regional co-operation of the two cluster-regions - “North” (Brandenburg, Saxony and West Poland) and “South“ (Austria, Hungary, Slovakia, and Slovenia)-, the major objective of this operation is to optimise transport logistics to address expected capacity problems. Specific emphasis is placed on the promotion of intermodal transport, the provision of 4th Party Logistic Services (4PL), and targeted inter-regional collaboration of relevant public administrations. The operation will result in an improvement of the efficiency of goods transport through the promotion of intermodal transport and 4th Party Logistic Service Providers. Through the design of IT Tools for intermodal transport planning and control and the establishment of co-operation and information structures, relevant public administrations will be supported in addressing the anticipated capacity shortage.
