Development and Run-test of an Educational Affective Model
Start date: Sep 1, 2016, End date: Aug 31, 2019 PROJECT  FINISHED

Project idea is situated in the continuum of the current cultural and pedagogical European debate around the Early Educational Systems focused on how to improve their quality and inclusiveness, taking in account the specific peculiarities and needs of their target groups. For reaching this improvement a shared pedagogical strategy, which considers the importance of the affective dimension of education it emerged as fundamental premise. The main project’s idea arises from the detected need to broaden and deepen the research on EU educational models adopted in the first, and therefore most important phases of the educational process, relating them with the concept of Affective Education and involving the main Mediterranean Countries. The project, indeed, aims to introduce an innovative pedagogical path, shared at European level, which intends to improve the educational practices used in EU, renewing the existing Educational Systems through an original approach that has the application of the right to welfare of its members among its main purposes. The project includes a comparative research on the main educational approaches adopted for the educative spectrum 0-10 years (from Preschool to Primary School), outlining a Pedagogical Framework (PF). The PF will summarizes the current conditions of these Systems. Then, starting from this logical frame, it will be created a specific Curriculum for teaching staff and an educational Model focused on the concept of Affective Education. The Curriculum will be the theoretical structure of the Educational Affective Model (EAM) and of its related practices and didactic tools. The methodological innovations will provide to teaching staff new skills/instruments, useful for carrying out better their educational assignments, with special regard to those for managing children’s most delicate educative transition stages, fostering the educative continuity. The Curriculum will offer also suggestions for innovative pedagogical strategies aimed to reduce teachers’ educative effort in their daily assignments or for a better work with complex or intercultural classrooms, inviting them to consider all the pupils’ characteristics related to their peculiar needs of growth and personal development. The EAM will be tested and validated through the Curriculum, which will be discussed in a set of Internal Meetings and Workshops aimed to teaching staff where deepening its practical and theoretical contents. These Meetings will be organized in each partner country both for Preschool and Primary School teachers and attended by groups of them. Finally the Model will be tested by teachers straight through a run-test in classroom and the results will flow in the Curriculum final version. The Curriculum and its related EAM, as well as the PF will constitute the project’s Intellectual Outputs, usable for free by partners or other educative institutions as OER through the online platform in English and in partners’ languages.According to the Erasmus+ horizontal priorities, the project wants to develop an innovative framework which valorizes the affective dimension of Education since preschool, making the system more inclusive where the cognitive learning cannot be achieved at the expense of relational well-being, and providing operators with innovative pedagogies, work methods, didactic tools and resources.Project’s aims respond to School Education specific priorities because they intend to enhance the general quality of ECEC through the valorization of pupils’ peculiarities rather than emphasizing their difficulties, contributing to ensure a good start in education for all, thanks to an innovative educational approach and because they want strengthen teaching professions’ profile with original educational method, able to support them in dealing with diversified groups of learners through original practices. The proposal meets also the principles of EU School Policy for a widely available preschool and those of ET2020 Strategic Framework and UE Reg. 1288/13, in particular:-improve the quality of the effectiveness of the ET Systems through the innovation of educational methods, encouraging EU Cooperation between educational institutions -support the dissemination of best practices in use in partner countries, promoting awareness on the intercultural dimension of EU starting right from the study of different educational approaches used in member countries. It is well integrated into EU2020 Strategy too, because applying the Model to create an educational environment perceived as inclusive/comfortable by pupils since the beginning can strengthen their learning motivation, preventing/limiting following potential disaffection dynamics against the Educational System such as ESL.
