The situation of the labor market in Spain , where youth unemployment exceeds 50% , makes it difficult for young people to find their first job. Mobility projects facilitate and expand the expectations of accessing the labor market , both national and European , of students who are finishing their training and recent graduates .
The "Developing skills and competences in Europe" project was created in answer to the need for schools to provide their students the opportunity to expand and improve the quality of their training by performing practices in European companies to get in touch with the European labor Market . The close collaboration of the schools in the consortium with the union STEPV ( majority trade union of education) has facilitated the development of this project in response to demand from schools.
Moreover, the schools and the union need to establish long-term networks of knowledge that allow them to get in touch with: companies, schools , social partners and local authorities. This will allow them to get in touch with innovation , sharing best practices and knowledge of European policies , improving the quality of their teaching and combating youth unemployment. The consortium is made up of seven institutes of Valencia and STEPV to act as coordinator.
The project is designed for 70 students or recent graduates in VET in the of ' Administration and Management ' (Administrative Management ) and " Computer and Communications " ( microcomputer Systems and Networks ). It will run from May 10 to June 10, 2014 to allow, in the case of students, to integrate the mobility into their training as a part of the subject (FCT) . The motilities will be held in Germany, UK, Italy and Portugal.
The main objective of DSCE is that participants develop through training practices in European companies, skills and abilities to complete, in a practical way, the skills acquired in VET for being efficiently incorporated in the European labor market. They need to develop specific skills and techniques on the subject that they have studied but they need to develop other key skills such as cultural, linguistic, entrepreneurship and individual initiative, ability to work in teams and knowledge of other working environments to facilitate their insertion in the European labor market, like self-employed or employed.
The main activities carried out by the project partners are:
-Preparation mobility. Including: Selection of participants, initial assessment of their skills , previous training participants , logistical and contractual issues , coordination ...
-Realization of mobility. Working on enterprises and making cultural activities.
- Evaluation of the participants. The skills acquired during the period shall be certified using ECVET and defined from an initial evaluation. The activities within the company will aim to achieve these skills and will be adapted for each of them.
- Monitoring . A tracing of the evolution participants will be will be made by the means established in the project.
- Dissemination. The dissemination activities are planned throughout the entire project. A final dissemination conference for showing the results of the project
Besides the impact on the participants, the project will affect the partners promoting European cooperation and rapprochement between enterprises and schools.
