DESTIGMA - stop stigma of physical diseases
Start date: May 1, 2015, End date: Jul 31, 2015 PROJECT  FINISHED

The "DESTIGMA - stop stigma of physical diseases" significantly exceeded the expectations of all participants as well as organizers. The topic of mental illnesses is still a taboo not only in Slovakia but also in the rest of Europe, so no one previously dared to name, as will every day discussions on difficult topics affect participants, among whom were psychologists, psychiatrists, students as well as young people suffering from mental health problems. The views of these groups are often differed, but this led to health brainstorming and finding new ideas and solutions variant. The project will undoubtedly enrich each individual participant as well as the psychology of the whole sector in Europe. The project focused on creating partnerships between 5 organizations in Europe which work with disadvantaged youth with predominantly depressive diagnosis. The participating countries were: Slovakia, Turkey, Romania, Poland and Georgia. Age of participants was 17 to 35 years and the project was attended by 16 women and 9 men. Full gender equality, we unfortunately failed to achieve, since most members of the partner organizations are women. We unfortunately failed to achieve full gender equality, because most members of the partner organizations are women. The key activities of the project included: 1. What is the stigma of depression? How to prevent it? What is burnout? What is effective psychohygiena? 2. ENERGIZER on a daily basis, serving to engender activity among participants. 3. Teamwork: working teams over the duration of the project changed because we wanted to avoid the "Group", which for the first few days threatened. 4. Presentation of different cultures: the presentation of individual countries (culture, food, language, history ...) 5. Feedback: daily receiving and giving out feedback between organizers and representatives of the countries. 6. Make someone else happy: the application of alternative methods of treatment of psychiatric practice in DSS Hrabiny. 7. Prospectus: joint development prospectus, which will serve as a means of awareness about themes of mental illness. 8. A trip to Banska Stiavnica approach Slovak culture, history and nature. 9. Interview: Short interview with five selected respondents questions about their experiences with mental disorders. 10. Web Development www.destigma.sk. Project participants shared a particular contacts with people working in the same field as them abroad, and experience types of activities aimed at destigmatization of mental illnesses and vital information on the possibility of Erasmus +.This was the first project of Erasmus + for STEFANI n.g.o. as organizor. We learned a lot about the pitfalls of making such a major project. It was a great school for us, particularly as regards organizational and communication skills. Together we have created a web www.destigma.sk in Slovak and English full of quality content that we filled up within days of each project. We believe that this website will help orient themselves in issues regarding mental health not only for professionals, patients, but also for relatives of sick people. Web continuously updated with interesting information. Daily reports as well as photographs from the project are published on the web www.destigma.sk.
