The social group formed by young adults who have experienced school failure shows poor key competencies, a characteristic that limits their access to and success in adult learning processes and makes them socially and economically vulnerable, as they lack the mechanisms to optimise the training resources available. EDUKEY is a project aimed at facing this unfavourable situation with competency-based didactic methods and contents specially designed to be applied in informal learning environments, like leisure or sporting activities, and intended to open up more opportunities for adult learners. The EDUKEY project is expected to result in a set of tested pedagogical contents and tools that will be available online to teachers and educators who work with adult learners. These tools will encourage young adults who have failed in school to take adult learning courses by helping them acquire the competencies they need to grow at the personal, social and occupational levels through lifelong learning.EDUKEY will create the following products, all of them associated with the acquisition of basic competencies in informal learning environments by young adults who have experienced school failure. These products will be available in English and in the languages spoken by the project’s partners (Spanish, German, French, Italian, Romanian, and Swedish):- A catalogue of good practices.- A pedagogical contents and tools library, available in CD.- An online resource platform for teachers and educators who work with adult learners. - Pilot tests in the countries of the project’s partners with teachers working with adult learners and members of the target group.- A dissemination and assessment plan for the project.The project’s expected impact is to increase access to education and learning for the above-mentioned underprivileged group thanks to the new tools developed within the framework of the EDUKEY project.
