Quality of a country’s education can compete on a level trained man power with trained manpower in European countries. The main objective of the Erasmus Program, regardless of their age and educational background, gaining new skills, strengthening personal development, increasing employment opportunities. This purpose forms the inspiration for our project.
Maritime education is an expensive vocational training system. So, our school is not sufficient in terms of tools and equipment. Each school must have a ship in maritime training is required of practial training. But, it is impossible for economic reasons.
Although there are 56 maritime high school, there is a need for trained teacgers in our school. Because, there isn’t a higher education institution on that trains teachers in these school. Needs of our school teachers is provided by teachers who have graduated from close professional groups. So, maritime training should not be done in our country as required. The quality of education ofour students have graduated from maritime school in our country is not the same as the quality of education in European countries. So, it cause that they are not prefered in the maritime sector.
We have to keep our education system close to education system in European countries. So that we can have a voice in the international maritime industry. Because maritime training began to develop in the early 2000s in our country, it does not have a well-established education system like other professions.
We believe that we will win characteristics of with this change project with intercultural maritime education interaction.
To accomplish these objectives, it is important that allow them to compare themselves with the advanced workers in the maritime field, providing intercultural exchange information. We will equip our students with the skills demanded by the labor market and a competitive economy with a strong and well-functioning education and training and we can help them cope with these problems. So our students in our country needs a lot more than other professions to Erasmus project for competitiveness and employability.
%80 of our students are children of low-income families from rural areas. They do not go an to higher education and they start to work to earn money soon. But, significant portion of our students tend to other business segments because of skills, knowledge and language problem. We selected our project participants among low-income students who can not think of higher education. We made cooperation with national maritime school in the city of Hamburg Cuxhaven in Germany which have a voice in the maritime field, to achieve our project objectives, (Staatliche Seefahrtschule(uxhaven) İt will be held such as three week practial maritime training, 3 days of week practial training, 2 days of week informative training such as trips and seminars.
Staatliche Seefahrtschule Cuxhaven is an organization that has all qualifications required by the IMO (İnternational Maritime Organisation) standard , at national and international level.
As a result of good relations that we established in our previous projects, we agreed to make a certain number of students on the maritime training each year. We have prepared for this project our students to do their internship with 15 ship machinery students, 15 ship management business department students and accompanying the two educatiors, determining in agreement with our partner school.
