The project Democratic governance in youth organization - key to participation’ is addressing one of the key issues in youth organizing: the aspect of real effective and meaningful participation, quality management and outreach. It is lasting from August 2015 to till December 2016 and involves 4 partners (JUB Netherlands, CID Macedonia, TOG Turkey and Out-of-the-box Belgium).The project's main aim is to strengthen the capacity and sustainability of youth organizations by developing the competencies of their democratic leadership and management structures in order for them to be able to grow sustainably. It will strengthen the internal communication among the volunteers, youth workers and employees within the organizations, which will affect the impact of their work. Objectives of the project are the following: - To develop a common understanding of the concepts related to democratic leadership in youth organizations such as: democracy, participation and leadership, civil society, human rights and citizenship - To raise participants’ awareness and provide space to reflect upon the value of youth organizations/structures - their role and impact as democratic leaders within society - To develop the participants’ ability to relate the work of their organizations with youth policy and provide them with up-to-date research (study) on youth organizations management- To develop participants’ understanding and knowledge of various forms of youth participation through youth organizations and their applicability for the management of a youth organizations- To define and further develop leadership and civic competencies as well as relevant management skills (conflict management, advocacy, motivation, shared leadership, decision making, empowerment, strategic planning, resource management) - To support participants in analyzing and further developing their organization internal processes and mechanisms in order to strengthen their work as youth organizations- To provide participants with ICT tools for online youth participation, better communication and coordination to stimulate their growth.The project is addressing one of the key issues in youth organizing, the aspect of effective and meaningful participation, quality management and outreach online, and as well offline. This project will provide a research and good practices on how to manage a youth organization, and how to provide space for democratic decision making through introducing the concepts of online youth participation and e-democracy in national youth organizations.The project will address the following questions/issues:1. How to manage democratically youth organizations and how to ensure active participation and links between young people from rural areas and remote areas, with the organization2. How to address youth policies related to the needs of local youth organizations, and to create meaningful discussions among the organization and with other stakeholders3. How to empower local level youth organizations to allow enough space for practical development of strategies and competencies5. How to use ICT to strengthen the communication and coordination within youth organization, and to provide space for active youth participation through online tools
