Délről északra Európán keresztül / Through Europe from South to North
Start date: Jul 1, 2014, End date: Jun 30, 2015 PROJECT  FINISHED

Summary of the project 14/KAVET/060 We have been working together with our partners since 2002 with whom we have organised our first Erasmus+ project. The Jyvaskyla College and the Raahen Ammatiopisto are vocational centres in Finland which have several thousands students. Our French partner, the CFA Louis Prioux is a small vocational school which has been broadening its activities with organising the Eurotour program since 2002. From then on we have got subsidy in the frames of the Leonardo program several times. In those years we could organise our projects with all the partners, but sent our students to France even in those years when we didn?t have European financial support. This year we organised 4 week long practical periods for our students who were studying as cooks, waiters, innkeepers or touristical agents. Six students travelled to Raahe and another six to Jyvaskyla. The students of tourism have worked in two hotels, mostly in housekeeping. The cooks were in the restaurant kitchens of the hotels. In Raahe the workplaces were the facilities of the school like the kitchen of the canteen for the cooks and the teachers? restaurant for the waiters. The beneficiaries shared their lodgings with the Finnish students at the dormitories or in flats hired by the school. They also took part in some lessons at the school. The French trip is one year long and the members of the target group are those cooks, waiters and confectioners who has just finished their studies. Those who graduated as innkeepers can choose between the professions of cooks or waiters. The Eurotour program consists of 12 weeks at the school and 40 weeks at the workplaces. Our students are in the same group like the Polish and Tchech students. In the end of the schoolyear the students take the vocational exam of lower leveli n France (CAP). After finishing the practical session they can continue their studies at the French school int he following school year. The greatest challeng of the program is that the students arrive at France without any (French) language knowledge and they have to work as cooks and waiters of full value at their workplaces. Those students who have already completed the Eurotour help them a lot, but it is the main impediment of developing their French, because their French immersion is not complete. Because of that their professional development is nota s fast as it is expected. Even so many of our students have chosen the this program during the years regarding these difficulties. All the six students who took part in this project remains in France to study further. The number of students taking part int he Finnish trips were twelwe (six each). For them it was a good opportunity to get experiences in another culture, and they began to think to join the Eurotour in the next year. Our school supported the project with linguistic, professional, cultural and psychological preparations. The information about the project can be found at http://www.corvin.hiszk.hu/erasmus-2014-2015
