To have a contribution to the community development, a basic condition of participation consists of youth information and awareness on the role that they play in today's democratic society, because a democratic society guarantees citizens access to decision-making and strengthened democracy depends on conscious and responsible citizens participation. The project "Decide for YOUth!" aims the development of social and civic competences among youth to increase the active and aware participation of youth at the community democratic life. Objectives:- Implementation of activities of dialogue between young people and decision makers and to promote civic participation of young people: carrying out 10 meetings between young people and decision makers in 6 regions of Romania, simulating a Local Council meeting, organizing meetings to disseminate the project results with young people from at least 3 regions, visit at the Romanian Parliament of 60 young people from 3 regions;- The organization of a national meeting of 35 young people with at least 4 decision makers in order to make a document that can represent a basis for a future legislative proposal on the introduction in school curricula or as optional in pre-university education of the civic education subject;- Creation of tools for developing and promoting civic education, non-formal education and youth participation: centralization of feedback from the young people involved in dialogue meetings with decision makers on civic education in Romania, the project movie, a booklet with methods, official documents.The project activities will create a favourable framework for information, debate and participation of young people in dialogue with decision makers. The direct beneficiaries of the project will be 285 young people aged between 13 and 30 years, of which a proportion of 15% will be young people with fewer opportunities (geographical, social and economic obstacles).In the first stage the youth will attend 10 meetings with decision makers in 6 regions from Romania centre, south-east, south-west, south, Bucharest-Ilfov and north-east. These are planned to take place in the cities: Brasov, Bucuresti, Cluj Napoca, Constanta, Craiova, Targoviste and Iasi. The meetings will take place in partnership with educational institutions, involving minimum 25 participants. The meeting agenda will include practical activities of understanding the decisional processes in the democratic society such as discussion of the opportunity to include the civic education in the school curricula in the pre-university education. On 7-14 September 2016, 35 young people will participate at the National Meeting from Iasi. They will develop their knowledge on the functioning of institutions in a functional democracy, will participate in the simulation of Local Council meeting, will communicate with decision makers and will then contribute to create tools of developing and promoting the civic education, non formal education and youth participation by centralizing the feedback of the youth involved in the dialogue meetings with decision makers regarding the civic education in Romania, the project movie, a booklet with methods, official documents.The national meeting results will be included in a booklet with nonformal methods to stimulate active participation. The booklet will be sent to the partner institutions in organizing the meetings of dialogue between young people and decision makers and to those which will host the dissemination meetings.In the end of the project it will be made and promoted a movie of project results presentation.Dissemination of project results will be achieved by implementing informative events in three cities: Bucharest, Cluj Napoca, Iasi.An important result of the project is represented by the document created based on the interaction between youth and decision makers that can form the basis of a legislative initiative for the introduction of the latest and practical information of civic education in formal education and of a political declaration that will be presented in the Romanian Parliament.In the dissemination phase of the project will be organized a study visit to the Romanian Parliament that will involve 60 young people from the partners towns. Therefore, the young people involved will interact with decision makers and will present the results of the project " Decide for YOUth!"On long term, the project activities will contribute also to young people's active participation and aware and assumed involvement in the community.
