The title of our project is “Customs, traditions and art: a river flowing around Europe”. The main goal of the project is to get pupils familiar with cultural heritage of partnership countries. They will know, from other countries, famous works of art in painting, music and literature for children (thanks to books they learn more about the world). They will also learn about painters,singers, important places, games children play at school, recipes, festivals and school life. Pupils will start to correspond with children from others schools. Most of the project activities will be included in everyday education. The exchange of ideas, experienced by pupils and teachers is essential. Internet and English will be our communication tools. Project meetings will enable participants to integrate, share ideas, get to know the host country and schools. The whole school communities will be engaged in the project. The most relevant results of the project will be accessible, as the bank of good ideas, on the school and project websites. End products: a CD-ROM with PowerPoint presentations, recording of traditional dances and famous pieces of music, illustrated "International Book of recipes, Legends and games for Children", a calendar of festivals illustrated with artwork, physical and digital displays, an evaluation report, a website of the project.We want to arouse enthusiasm for exploring other cultures and increase motivation to learn other languages and use ICT. We believe the project will be an essential step to teach an attitude of tolerance and respect towards other nations. We hope that a common international project work will prepare pupils and teachers for participation in the European community in the social and cultural dimension.
