Culture for Sustainable Development (Culturability BSR)
Start date: Dec 31, 2013, End date: Jun 29, 2014 PROJECT  FINISHED

The aim of the project is to analyse culture as a catalyst for sustainable development and encourage multiplication of good/best/next practices for culture and sustainability in the Baltic Sea Region. By the use of specific showcases, best practises are analysed, discovered and evaluated and as a consequence, conditions for the implementation of high quality and influential projects are brought off. The focus of the project and its follow-up will be to build cooperation between core stakeholders within the creative industries, urban development and social innovation on efforts which use culture to integrate the environmental, economic and the social dimension of sustainability.CULTURABILITY BSR consists of three workshops between January 2014 and June 2014 at three venues. In Rendsburg, Schleswig-Holstein (Germany), Gdansk (Poland) and Riga (Latvia), respectively 15 stakeholders of the relative region meet 25 people of the core group that participates in every workshop. This structure creates a tighter link to reality and facilitates the search for partners in order to realize possible project ideas. After the workshops, recommendations and proposals from the process will be discussed at a concluding meeting among involved stakeholders in the fall of 2014.The Flagship project is a partnership between The Nordic Council of Ministers, The Ministry of Culture of Poland and The Government of Schleswig Holstein. It is carried out in cooperation with The Danish Cultural Institute and The Swedish Institute, with primary funding from the Nordic Council of Ministers. Achievements: The final meeting of Culture for Sustainable Development in the Baltic Sea Region took place on 10 – 11 December 2014 in Copenhagen.
