In an increasingly knowledge-based society, cultural institutions play an important role as learning environments for both children and adults. Whilst professional remits might suggest that such institutions are both innovative and proactive, many fail to achieve their educational development potential. Recognising a need for strategic change, the Cultural Organisations (CONNECTION) project aimed at developing the competences of cultural professinals and managers and strengthening the learning dimension within cultural organisations, through developing and transferring a range of proven adult education tools and techniques. Key outputs comprised training curricula for cultural managers and other professionals, an organisational development guide, a research report with case studies and a dedicated Grundtvig In-Service Training (IST) course.
