Cultural Integration through Sports, Music, Dance and Traditions
Start date: Jun 1, 2009,

The project is a tri-lateral exchange, with youngsters from Norway, Latvia and Ireland. The project-idea is to exchange and show cultural differences between the countries and learn from each other, by taking part in each others different activities/traditions. There will be events and days where each country will present their country. First half of the project we will stay in Moss, a small town in our region. The activities in this part will emphasize more urban traditions and be more out-turned. The second half we will stay in a camp on an island and the activities here will be more group-related. Besides, there vill be get-to-know-eachother activities all the time. The exchange will encourage open discussion on the subjects of social exclusion, cultural diffrences and varying behavioural patterns associated with this, and tolerance of cultural differences. We hope to achieve this through icebreaker sessions, sporting and cultural events, intercultural social events and ongoing evaluation of the programme by the young people involved. By virtue of the varied programme which we have put together we hope to ensure that the participants enjoy the entire experience and do not get bored. We have also built in leisure and social events which will achieve learning in a non formal way.We will use instructors outside our group and - intensionally - do performances. The amount of participants will be about 45 youngsters and will last for 9 days (including arrival and departure-days). The activities will be in big and small groups and some individual or couple-work.The project has also a local idea, to work together fosterchildren and fostersiblings. This because their relations in a fosterhome is very little emphasized and we want to do that. Also - hope to spread the idea to other fosterhome-care.
