Start date: Jun 1, 2016, End date: Aug 31, 2017 PROJECT  FINISHED

After successfully managing long and short term EVS projects the last 5 years, our organization has become a key partner for EVS in Cyprus. By implementing such activities we managed to develop a network with trustful partners where we continue to implement various activities; training courses, seminars and EVS projects. We consider EVS as a serious tool for personal development of the participants therefore we want to continue organizing and implementing such projects in order to provide opportunities to more youngsters to explore new potentials, gain a new life perspective and find their selves; this has a powerful impact for the volunteers, our organization, the local community and other geographical areas of Cyprus our organization is active. Our proposal consists of 2 Activities:Activity 1: Long term EVS (11 months with 2 volunteers) July 2016 - June 2017Activity 2: Short term EVS (30 days with 12 volunteers) October - November 2016Activity 1:The volunteers to participate in this activity have already been selected as both of them have expressed their need and strong will to participate. We were positively surprised by the eager and passion these volunteers share to become a part of our organization. Andraž Renko is a young volunteer from MC ZOS in Slovenia who has experienced his short term EVS of 1 month in Cyprus under the project 'World Wide Village' implemented by Politistiko Ergastiri in 2014. Although his high level of education and being a professor of chemistry and physics, Andraz is unemployed for the past 2 years. He has relatively high experience and is very familiar about the structure of EVS but also other programs as he has attended several youth exchanges and training courses as a participant and a youth leader. The second selected volunteer is Dominika Prazmowska coming from Poland who graduated of English Philology at the University of Białystok in Poland and studying coaching with focus on psychology and self-development in London for more than a year she started to work with EVS volunteers in a local Polish organization where she practiced and further developed her skills feeling a sense of self satisfaction and meaningfulness. Some of her own words: ''It is really powerful and really enjoy working in an international team, being surrounded by open-minded people who like to make change in the world by doing small things. In my free time, I practice yoga which has become an integral part of my life. I would love to share my passion with others, teaching them not only yoga poses but also how to make peace with themselves. I love the ideas of cultural workshops and events organized by Politistiko Ergastiri and I hope to add something special being given the chance to join them in Cyprus. Supporting volunteers in what they do inspired me to take part in my own EVS and I feel I am ready to take this challenge. I would like to feel how it is be ‘on the other side’ and maybe become better coordinator in the future.''Having had previous experience in non Formal learning the volunteer's main tasks will be the support during the organization and implementation of European mobility programs. Great emphasis will be given on the projects implemented in rural villages of Cyprus. Additionally, the volunteers will be encouraged to take initiatives in promoting EVS on the island and also participate in local activities of the organization. Activity 2:This activity aims to mobilize European youth in exploring a new culture and interacting with a community where they play a key role and become a part of the local social life. The main aim is to enhance the human-culture relationship in an authentic, creative and innovative way; to introduce a life experience of culture exchange both for the volunteers and the community. One of the main tasks of the activity will be the planning, organization and implementation of a 3 day festival in cooperation with local youth and other groups; a festival specifically scheduled to exhibit the cultural heritage of the village. Objectives:- Empower and train EVS Volunteers and Local youth workers in dealing with cultural diversity.- Encourage EVS Volunteers and Local youth workers to work with concrete aspects of cultural diversity, integration and use of it in youth work with special focus on how to embrace creativity.- Offer the opportunity to EVS volunteers to visit, work, participate in events organized by our NGO for the community. The planning of activities itself has a voluntary character.- Enhance the goals of tolerance, acceptance and awareness of cultural diversity which will lead to integration and intercultural experiences.- Promote non-formal learning and cooperation in the field of youth with partner countries.- Foster cooperation and exchange of best practices between young people from different regions of Europe..- Enhance the participants’ foreign languages competences.
